Maoin Cheoil provides lessons in singing and in all the main classical and traditional instruments including piano, keyboard, cello, viola, violin, fiddle, classical and folk guitar, accordion, whistle, recorder, timber and concert flute and concertina.
Maoin Cheoil offers classes in aural training and theory from beginners right up to advanced level.
Group lessons are provided in selected instruments. To ensure that the maximum benefit is obtained from these classes, group size is restricted to a maximum of five students.
Maoin Cheoil provides two year courses for students wishing to study music for their Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations. Admission is through consultation with the course tutors as numbers are limited.
This is a 30 minute active introduction to music for children aged 3–5 and 6–8 years old. It involves a fun introduction to the basics of rhythm and pitch through singing, playing and learning together.
At Maoin Cheoil students of classical music have the opportunity to be part of an ensemble while students of traditional instruments can join a grupa cheoil. Current classical ensembles include a flute choir and violin ensemble.
School and class concerts give students the opportunity to share their achievements with family and friends. Opportunities may also arise to perform at various functions throughout the year.
